La serie CPX pone l'enfasi sulla suonabilità con un manico veloce ed un medium jumbo, che risulta comunque confortevole. Era già nelle versioni precedenti una delle chitarre medium jumbo più apprezzate, ma il modello è stato ulteriormente migliorato con la nuova serie CPXII aggiungendo una nuova elettronica.
In particolare l'elettronica è la System 65. Il sensore è un piezo e viene controllato da un equalizzatore a 3 bande e un controllo mid-range. L'elettronica è inoltre dotato di un affidabile accordatore cromatico e viene alimentata da una coppia di batterie AA.
