La Gibson J-45 Standard è una chitarra stile Dreadnought e si colloca all'interno del catalogo Gibson nella serie Round Shoulder. In produzione fin dagli anni '40 la J-45 rimane tutt'oggi una delle chitarre più vendute del catalogo Gibson Acoustic, anche per uso in studio di registrazione.
E' caratterizzata da una catenatura a pettine, da un binding a 4 strati sul top, intarsi in madreperla e meccaniche vintage nickelate. La tavola è realizzata in abete Sitka massello, fondo e fasce in mogano dell'Hoduras massello, ponte e tastiera in palissandro.
La nuova versione è caratterizzata da un'elettronica migliorata, la L.R. Baggs Element VTC, un feeling migliore grazie alla tastiera lavorata per un impugnature più confortevole, tasti realizzati con PLEK e nuova finitura ancora più bella e lucente.
