Non esiste una chitarra più emblatica per il marchio Gibson della 1959 Les Paul Standard. Quando venne introdotta non fu un modello di successo, ne furono vendute meno di 650 unità, ma negli anni venne scelta come strumento da chitarristi del calibro di Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Duane Allman, Billy Gibbons, Joe Perry, Slash, e divenne leggenda.
Nel 60° anniversario il Gibson Custom presenta la replica più accurata mai realizzata. Il corpo ovviamente è realizzato in mogano selezionato massello, mentre la tavola è in acero fiammato.
Il carving del top, le dimensioni del corpo, le parti in plastica, ogni elemento è stato fedelmente riprodotto.
E' ridondante entrare nei dettagli, si tratta del massimo livello a cui il Gibson Custom Shop sia mai arrivato.
