La Fender American Standard Telecaster è la chitarra per il chitarrista che cerca l'autentico "twang" telecaster. Il corpo è in frassino o ontano, a seconda della versione, mentre il manico in acero ha un profilo "Modern C" che risulta molto confortevole e veloce. Il capotasto è progettato per non alterare il suono e per dare un elevata stabilità all'accordatura.

I pickup Fender Custom Shop Twisted Tele (manico) e Broadcaster (ponte) generano un timbro tradizionale e riproducono fedelmente la timbrica delle classiche Telecaster degli anni '50. Anche il ponte è stato riprogettato rispetto alla versione precedente: il nuovo ponte con sei sellette American Standard permette un'intonazione perfetta e l'utilizzo dell'ottone in abbinamento all'acciaio per la sua realizzazione da' a questa chitarra una marcia in più in termini di dinamicità e sustain.
